Event details

Animate Orchestra offers young musicians in school years 5 to 13 opportunities to play together and create their own music in a ‘Young Person’s Orchestra for the 21st Century’. Animate Artists courses bring together experienced young musicians in exciting collaborations with other artists and art forms.

Bringing together young people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and musical interests, Animate courses are fun, sociable and musically adventurous. With specialist tutors and world-class musicians as mentors, projects take place in school holidays or weekends – and range from introductory 1 – 3 day local courses to more intensive projects and collaborations with other art-forms.

Animate Artists X Trinity Laban Youth Dance Company

Animate Artists is seeking young musicians for its next creative project. With sessions across November 24 to February 25 – on occasional Sundays and Tuesday evenings – you will work as part of a group to devise a brand-new piece of music for dance, collaborating with the Trinity Laban Youth Dance Company. This daring new work will be performed live at the state-of-the-art Laban Theatre as part of the high-profile U.Dance 2025: London Regional Platform.

We are delighted that this project will be led by Aga Serugo-Lugo (Royal Opera House, Wigmore Hall, ENO Baylis) and Roseann Denby (Co-Founder of Tough Boys, Associate Artist of Sadlers Wells 2023-2025.) The team will be supported by additional tutors and students from Trinity Laban.

This is a unique opportunity for young musicians and dancers to experiment side-by-side to organically create a new work that breaks through the boundaries of musician or dancer. Come and explore your individualism and unique artistry to create together a truly spectacular live performance.

Priority will be given to applications received by Tuesday 15 October. Places on this project are limited so we suggest sending in your application sooner rather than later, as we may not be able to offer everyone a place.
