When planning to apply for a course at Trinity Laban, it is important to consider how you will finance your studies.
In addition to tuition fees you will need to cover your living costs while you are a student here. There are various funding options available including bursaries, scholarships and external funding.
Tuition fees
For further information on the cost of each programme, how to pay your tuition fees, scholarships and bursaries, and external funding, go to the Fees and Your Finances section.
Scholarships and bursaries
We offer a wide range of scholarships to reward and encourage students, and to help them fulfil their potential. They can be awarded:
- for outstanding performance ability, demonstrated at audition
- for particular disciplines, including shortage instruments
The majority of our scholarship awards are given in the form of a reduction in your tuition fees.
Financial Support Grant
This grant is available to students who struggle financially while studying at Trinity Laban. It is allocated on the basis of financial need in the form of a contribution towards the cost of accommodation, general living expenses or external events costs.

External Funding
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have sufficient funding to cover tuition fees and living expenses for your chosen period of study. You should not assume that you will receive financial support from Trinity Laban unless it has been offered in writing. Many trusts and funding bodies provide support for music and dance education, particularly at postgraduate level.
The application deadlines for many of these awards are early in the autumn term prior to the main audition session.
We strongly encourage you to apply for any external funding sources that you are eligible for.
Benefits
Under certain circumstances, you will be able to claim welfare benefits while you study or outside of term time. You can visit the NUS website and talk to a student adviser to check.
Budgeting
Before you start your course you should have an idea of what your income and spending will look like so you aren’t caught off guard at the expense of your studies.
You can estimate how much you will need to spend monthly by looking at our recommended living costs. Then you compare this with the funding support you expect to receive along with any savings or income from work. You can use an online budget planner, work it out on paper or use a smartphone app to work this out the difference between your income and spending. You can then consider what you will need to do to make up any difference.
We have also put together a list of money-saving tips written by Trinity Laban students to help you make the most of your money in London. These tips will stop you from overspending, but won’t prevent you from having fun in the vibrant UK capital.
