For the past few years, Kate has been creating a series of dance scores for use in everyday situations, with a particular focus on relationships and mood. Where and how these scores exist, in terms of location and medium, is an important aspect of this work.

Her current collaboration, with artist Lili Murphy-Johnson and dancers Kirsty Alexander and Lily Paine, is an exploration of the act of “doing” through film and dance and uses film as an integral part of the choreographic process.

Previous collaborations have been with dance artist Marina Collard, poet Carol Watts, and film maker Ros Cheshire.

As a dance animateur for Yorkshire Dance, Swindon Dance, Cambridgeshire and Rambert, Kate has taught in a variety of community settings. She has also taught at Barnsley College of Art, Lewisham College and London Contemporary Dance School.

As a singer, CJ has toured globally as a soloist, including Tokyo, Shanghai, Macau, San Francisco, Paris, Dubai, Milan for clients such as Swarovski and David Beckham. She has appeared with opera band Amici Forever and Incognito Artists. She also sang for the QUEEN’S GOLDEN JUBILEE (Buckingham Palace).

Her TV and film credits include CALL THE MIDWIFE (BBC), THE MYSTERY OF MARILYN MONROE (NETFLIX), GALAVANT (ABC), SMALL ISLAND (NT LIVE), BEYOND THE FENCE (SKY ARTS). She starred in the short film MOUSIE (set in 1936 Berlin and starring as Katharina) winning several film festival awards including BEST ACTRESS at the SOCIAL FILM FESTIVAL ARTELESIA. She plays Stina in new award-winning comedy TV series THE PLAYERS. She appears in the RICHARD RODGERS CENTENARY GALA (BBC4/Theatre Royal Drury Lane).

As a recording artist, CJ appears on THE LIGHT PRINCESS Original Cast Recording (Universal/Tori Amos) and has recorded demos for BBC and SKY including OTHERWORLD and PSYCHOBITCHES. Her vocals were also used for THE HURLY BURLY SHOW (Garrick Theatre). As a voiceover artist, CJ has a list of credits including the voice

of ITV PLAYER, narrator for YOU ARE AWAKE (Channel 4) and playing characters for BILLIE AND THE GHOST (DISNEY).

She is also a qualified yoga and meditation teacher and loves to bring an essence of mindfulness to all of her teaching.

As a chamber musician, Malcolm joined the Amernet String Quartet in 1990 after meeting at the Julliard School in New York. The quartet went on to be the recipient of many major awards including the prestigious Gold Medal at the 1992 Tokyo International Chamber Music Competition. They performed all over the USA, Japan, Canada, Switzerland, Germany and Australia and held residencies at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, LSU and The New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts while also participating in the Aspen, Tanglewood, Norfolk and Great Lakes Summer Festivals.

More recently, Malcolm has worked as guest violist with the Leopold String Trio at the Edinburgh Festival and the Snape Proms, participated in the Chamber Music series at the Wigmore Hall with the LPO Chamber Players as well as featuring as violist with the Falk Quartet. He has collaborated with several distinguished musicians including Ruth Laredo, Miriam Fried, Nathaniel Rosen and Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider.

Malcolm earned his Bachelor’s degree at the RSAMD, Glasgow (now Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and continued his studies with John White at the Royal Academy of Music, London. Other teachers included Masao Kawasaki and Jerzy Kosmala. Among others who have given direction to Malcolm’s career are the Tokyo, La Salle, Emerson and Amadeus String Quartets and Isaac Stern, during the inaugural season of his Chamber Music Workshop at Carnegie Hall, New York.

As an educator, Malcolm has been a visiting professor at Trinity Laban, the RAM and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for several years. He is especially sought after as a mentor for young musicians preparing for auditions and embarking on their careers with several former students now holding prominent positions in orchestras around the UK. Malcolm is very excited to now hold the position of Professorial Staff- Viola at Trinity Laban.

In 1997, he was elected an Associate of the RAM (ARAM).

As a recitalist he has performed throughout Europe as well as Israel, Colombia, Ecuador and the United States.
As a principal keyboard player for the Gabrieli Consort and Players for 17 years, he took part in some 22 landmark recordings for Deutsche Grammophon. As a member of the chamber ensemble Florilegium for 10 years he performed throughout Europe and North and South America (and was the first European to record on an 18th century organ built by the indigenous Indians in Santa Ana, Bolivia). He recorded eight solo discs of works by Blow, Gibbons, E Pasquini, Cornet, Elizabethan Virginalists and a Bach recital (on the Waalse Kerk organ, Amsterdam). He is currently principal keyboardist with Sir John Eliot Gardiner’s Monteverdi Choir.

In 2016 he undertook a series of critically acclaimed Bach recordings for Metronome Recordings: Clavierübung Part III, Fantasias and Fugues, the 18 Chorales and Canonic Variations. The complete organ works of François Couperin and d’Anglebert was released in 2020. Current new releases include Bach’s Art of Fugue on harpsichord, the six violin and obbligato harpsichord sonatas with Rodolfo Richter and Volume 4 of the Bach series (Bader organ, Zutphen).

James also teaches early keyboards at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Academy of Music London.

Since her time at RAM, Charlie-Jade has maintained both a steady performance career and a successful teaching career. She is currently the Associate Teacher of Singing at LAMDA, and teaches across the BA & MFA Professional Acting, MA Classical Acting and MA Musical Theatre programmes. She also teaches on the BA Musical Theatre programme at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and prior to these appointments taught on the BA Actor Musicianship programme at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and on the BA Musical Theatre programme at Laine Theatre Arts. She runs her private studio for professional voice users, The Practice by Charlie-Jade, teaching singing and supporting singers’ health. She adopts a person-centred approach to her teaching and continues her own professional development collaborating with specialist clinicians, including a voice specialist ENT, and observing them in clinic.

Her experiences as both a student, singer and teacher, alongside a keen interest in singers health and psychological perspectives on the voice inspired her to accept a place to study the MSc in Performance Science at the Royal College of Music from which she graduated with Distinction in 2023. Her MSc research investigated experiences and perceptions of health and wellbeing within a drama school context and the findings inspired her to pursue doctoral research. Supervised by Professor Aaron Williamon and Dr Anna Detari, Charlie-Jade’s PhD research will investigate health literacy in drama school students, staff, and graduates, before working with her own research findings, current literature, and clinical experts to develop a health intervention for this educational context.

Performing regularly throughout the UK and Europe, she leads the 2017 Mercury-nominated band Dinosaur who have performed at North Sea, Montreal and Molde International Jazz festivals to name a few. A highly active composer, Laura’s is equally at home writing for contemporary chamber groups and orchestras as she is writing for jazz ensembles and improvising musicians. Frequently creating works that present musical ingredients from outside the world of jazz music, within the realms of a jazz band, she has by been commissioned by the likes of the BBC Proms and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, Ligeti Quartet and the Northern Sinfonia.

As an educator, David lectures on the Bachelor and Master Programmes at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where he specializes in choreological studies based on the body of work developed by Rudolf Laban. Beyond academia, David offers movement masterclasses, workshops and retreats internationally since 2018. He also contributes his expertise in yoga to various movement communities including the Ferus Animi / Terra Nova collective.

From the lens of social justice, David founded kindredpacket, a grassroots movement uplifting East and South East Asian (ESEA) communities through culturally sensitive practices of wellbeing. As part of Britain’s East and South East Asian Network (the organization that initiated ESEA Heritage Month in the UK), he delivers Active Bystander Trainings across England and Wales. His work with queer communities include being a facilitator for We Create Space, a global platform advocating wellness for queer leaders and being on the advisory board for Rendez-Vous Dance, championing LGBTQIA+ stories, past and present through performance and education.

In the United Kingdom, he has given numerous recitals at London’s Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, the Southbank Centre, and has made many live broadcasts for BBC Radio 3. He regularly performs at the Brighton Festival and the Newbury Spring Festival. Other projects include a performance and recording of Bach’s 48 Preludes and Fugues (The Well Tempered Klavier) at St George’s, Bristol. He played with the European Chamber Orchestra and made his return concert tours to Denmark and Russia, where he performed Mozart Concertos No. 20 and No. 25 with the Philharmonic Orchestras.

Mikhail Kazakevich studied at the Gorky State Conservatoire, opened as a division of Moscow Conservatoire, from 1980-86, with the well-known pianist and teacher Isaak Katz, who was a pupil of the legendary professor Alexander Goldenweiser. After graduating with highest honours, he taught as a Professor at the conservatoire until 1992.

Mikhail has combined his intensive concert activity with teaching, which he enjoyed doing since after his graduation when he was appointed Professor at the Gorky State Conservatoire. In the UK, he taught at the Welsh College of Music and Drama (Cardiff) from 1994-96.

Currently, he is a Professor of Piano at Trinity Laban. He frequently gives Master Classes and adjudicates at the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music and the Atlantic College of Wales. His Master Classes at St George’s Brandon Hill (Bristol) is an annual event. He also gave Masterclasses in Jordan National Conservatoire, University of Aberdeen, Art Centre in Newport, where he was a member of a jury panel at the Newport International Piano Competition.

He holds an MA Theatre and Performance and a BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance. Blair’s research interests include queer utopian performance, trauma and voice, Bourdieu’s theory of practice and education, disability in performance and rehearsal and has presented his research at the 10th Estill World Voice Symposium in 2021, the Voice Geek Conference 2019 and has published a chapter in The Bloomsbury Handbook of Popular Music Education: Perspectives and Practices. Blair is a performance artist and songwriter, releasing his first album in 2014, and writing and performing a solo stand-up experimental cabaret in 2018. He is currently working on combining live art with rock music in an experimental performance exploring queer magick and mythology. He has worked as a Vocal Director on a range of shows and is currently the Vocal Consultant on a number of fringe productions in London. Blair is passionate about working with and coaching queer, trans and non-binary performers and has extensive experience of facilitating a safe learning environment for clients and colleagues from the LGBTQIA+ community.

For many years, David directed the Greenwich International String Quartet Festival and the National Cello Festival “Go Cello!” held in Greenwich in 2018. For some two decades, David directed the String Chamber Music Programme at Trinity Laban, where he has taught since 1990. For many years, he taught at the Dartington International Summer School, the Summer School of the Köln Hochschule für Musik in Montepulciano, St. Andrews University and at the Royal Academy of Music in London, he is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds regular classes at London’s Wigmore Hall. David’s teaching has been broadcast on the BBC World Service, and his former students play in the widest possible variety of situations around the world as soloists, chamber and orchestral musicians, including Stjepan Hauser of “2Cellos”, and cellist/singer/composer Ayanna Witter-Johnson. David speaks French, German, Italian and Dutch, as well as his native English, and has BA and MA degrees from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Music degree from Yale.
