Introduction
Our Popular Music Department is equipped to give you the tools you need to define your artistic voice and use it to shape the contemporary music landscape. Whether you’re a singer-songwriter, hip-hop producer, electronic artist, folk musician, or sit outside the box, we provide a place for learning and self-expression which will set you up for a sustainable career in the popular music industry.
You will be immersed in collaborative music-making and production, in an environment that celebrates difference and where you will not be bound by genre. Learning from esteemed industry professionals, with one-to-one tuition and group classes, and collaborating with students from across Trinity Laban, you will define your distinct creative voice.
Alongside skills in performance, production and songwriting, you will develop a forward-thinking and socially engaged approach to your work. This will in turn enable you to situate your music within contemporary contexts.
Business skills are key for connecting your music with audiences and monetising your work. You will cover copyright, publishing, licensing and identifying your audience, and gain experience marketing and releasing your music.
Auditions
Our audition process is designed to help us find out about your performance or composition style, interests, and personality. We want to assess whether you have the potential to benefit from our approach, and we aim to provide a positive and friendly atmosphere, allowing you to enjoy yourself.
Open Days
Discover your future in Music, Dance, and Musical Theatre at one of our upcoming open days.
We’ll show you how studying at Trinity Laban equips you with the tools to develop your career, build a network and become the artist you want to be.
We are hosting Open Days in the USA in January 2025, so come and meet us.
