Course details

Introduction

Do you have a passion for both dance and science? Do you want to be part of a pioneering community leading the way in a field of research?

Studying on the Dance Science course at Trinity Laban, you will combine dance practice with deep learning of how the dancing body and mind works.  The BSc will progress your technical dance skills whilst developing your knowledge and understanding of theoretical, experiential and practical elements of dance. This includes fitness testing, psychology and injury prevention expertise.

This course will open a range of potential career pathways for you. This could include teaching, the leisure industry, safe and healthy practice promotion in dance companies and education, and the option to pursue further study and research pathways.

Key Features

Our staff on the BSc programme are world-leading researchers and outstanding lecturers with subject-specific expertise and recognised profiles in this field. You will regularly collaborate with each other and benefit from the strong links they have with research projects and professional organisations in the industry.

Over the three years you will develop as an independent learner delving into modules that complement each other to integrate theory and bodywork.

You’ll study areas such as anatomy and exercise physiology, nutrition, performance psychology, performance analysis, motor skills learning and the role of dance in fitness and health.

You’ll also have access to cutting edge technologies in our Dance Science Lab where you can explore, and learn how to use, the latest physiology and biomechanics equipment and dance-specific testing protocols.
