Actor and alum Radhika Apte honoured with India-UK Outstanding Achiever award

Actor and Trinity Laban Contemporary Dance alum Radhika Apte has won the India-UK Outstanding Achiever award for Arts, Culture, and Sports. Held at the House of Lords in London, the prestigious event honoured professionals and alumni from British universities who have made significant contributions to arts, culture, entertainment, sports, business, and public service.

Organised by the National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) UK, in collaboration with the British Council in India and the UK Government Department for International Trade (DIT), the awards highlight the impact of Indian professionals on a global stage. This year, the India-UK Outstanding Achiever award has recognised 35 exceptional individuals, including Radhika Apte. The recipients include distinguished artists, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and government officials who continue to strengthen India-UK ties through innovation, education, and cultural exchange. This prestigious honour places Radhika in an esteemed league of past achievers, including former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, and CEO of Serum Institute of India Adar Poonawalla. The event series celebrating the India-UK relationship included a gathering at the UK Parliament, the India-UK Education Conference, and the grand Achievers Honours Gala Ceremony.

The award follows Radhika’s attendance of the 2025 BAFTAs, as her horror-comedy drama Sister Midnight was nominated in the Outstanding Debut by a British writer, director, or producer category. The film marks the directorial debut of Karan Kandhari and features Radhika as a woman dragged into an unhappy arranged marriage. The film was reviewed as four stars in The Guardian, with Radhika’s performance described as “terrific” and “remarkable”.
