Excellence beyond tradition

We are a global leader in arts education and creative practice, and a beacon of innovation in conservatoire training in the UK, Europe and beyond.

Our profile among conservatoires is distinctive and progressive. We offer our students and staff unique opportunities for cross artform collaboration at the highest level, and are committed to experimentation, imbuing our community with a pioneering spirit. We defy genre, we dare to take risks, and we break expectation.

We have an unrivalled provision for and interest in public engagement, with courses and classes for all ages, and a specliast strand of work focussed on creative health. This work enables us to make our artforms accessible to all.

Global leadership

We have extended the historical boundaries of conservatoire study in Music by introducing the first departments of jazz and of early music and establishing the first junior conservatoire as a pathway for talented young musicians of school age. We recently extended our offer into Popular Music. Our Dance training fuses and influences European and North American developments in contemporary dance. We pioneered higher education study of dance in the UK, successively introducing the first Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes in the discipline, and advancing the field of Dance Science via significant research and training.

We created the first system of grade examinations whereby musical, and latterly dance, learning and standards are assessed and certified worldwide.

We continue to drive excellence and experimentation through our expansion of disciplinary limits, our curricular and pedagogical innovation, our links to advanced professional practice, and our research-informed teaching. As a result, Trinity Laban’s programmes remain at the forefront of our specialisms, respected internationally by artists, educational institutions and arts organisations who engage with the Conservatoire as students, staff members, visiting artists, and teaching and research partners.

Many talented and ambitious artists from across the globe seek to train with us each year, and one third of our students body comes from outside of the UK, with 60 countries represented in our student body.
