Whatever your event we have a range of adaptable spaces to suit your requirements.

Our unique, cutting-edge Laban Building offers a range of inspiring spaces, from a 300-seat theatre and exclusive foyer space, to 13 professional dance studios, a lecture theatre and three smaller meeting rooms.

The flexible nature of our spaces allows us to cater for a variety of events, from smaller meetings, workshops and conferences, through to product launches and evening receptions. The range of services that we can offer to complement your special event includes the use of our unique Pilates studio, and dance or movement workshops led by a trained professional and designed to meet each client’s specific objectives.

Laban Theatre

Designed in stylish dark wood, this elegant theatre space sits at the heart of the Laban building and offers a contrasting environment to the bright colours of the surrounding corridors and studio spaces.

Our 300-seat Laban Theatre is a key venue for conferences, award ceremonies, product launches and various other events.

The stage area offers an alternative space for meetings, seated dinners and film or photography shoots, while the impressive lighting and sound capabilities and a single purchase counterweight flying facility offer enormous creative potential for any event.

Technical services can be tailored to meet the needs of each individual event and our dedicated team will be happy to offer advice on the best use of our facilities.

Laban building Foyer

Featuring the Laban wall drawing, a specially commissioned piece of public art by Michael Craig-Martin, the foyer is a visual explosion of colour seen immediately as you enter the building.

The Laban foyer or ‘main street’ is a unique, ramped concourse area adjacent to the Bonnie Bird Theatre, incorporating a contemporary bar area seating up to 40 people.

Ideal for drinks receptions, presentations and standing buffets for up to 450, the foyer can be complemented by live or recorded music and film projections.

Studios

Purpose-built for professional dance training, our 12 dance studios are also flexible spaces for a variety of functions including film and photography shoots, meetings, workshops, exhibitions, dinners and evening receptions.

Seven of our studios are equipped in the traditional style, with ballet barres and mirrors, while the remaining five are designed in a more contemporary style, with plain white walls, making them all the more flexible for events. When necessary, the dance floors can be protected by fitted carpets.

Large windows allow natural light to flood into all of the spacious studios during the day, throwing the pastel colours of pink, blue and green into the light, clean spaces.

By night, the interior electric light from the studios illuminates the building, projecting colour out into the surrounding area and making movement and activity within the studios visible from the outside.

Outdoor Theatre & Garden

Set within our ‘folded’ landscape gardens designed by Vogt Architects, the 200-seat amphitheatre is an impressive location for any outdoor event.

Designed primarily as a performance area, the amphitheatre is a striking space for imaginative open-air functions including garden parties, award ceremonies, product launches and cocktail receptions.

The building’s façade provides a unique and dynamic backdrop for any special event and the opportunity to project digital imagery onto the polycarbonate outer skin of the building offers a wealth of creative potential in a truly inspiring setting.

Our production crew is always pleased to work with clients and, where appropriate their chosen AV supplier, to advise on the best artistic use of our spaces.

With an area totalling 600 square metres, the outdoor theatre can also be used as a marquee site, seating up to 250 people for a seated dinner, with space for a DJ or band and a dancefloor.

Studio Theatre

The Studio Theatre is a large studio with the added benefits of blackout curtains, a lighting rig and a seating area. With a maximum capacity of 230 standing, and a fully retractable seating system for 100, this is a flexible space suitable for a variety of events and performances.

Ideal for fashion shows, photo shoots, film work and movement workshops or creative ‘away-days’, the Studio Theatre has a standard overhead lighting rig and comes inclusive of a full sound system providing playback facilities for CD and cassette.

A TV, VHS and DVD player are included and additional technical equipment is available on request.

At the back of the Studio Theatre and directly accessed through adjoining doors, is a small studio which can also be used as a backstage area.

Lecture Theatre

Seating up to 100 people, the Lecture Theatre is an ideal setting for smaller conferences, meetings and presentations.

Designed in light birch wood, this is an attractive example of a classic, yet contemporary styled, lecture theatre.
The stylish space is equipped with an extensive range of AV facilities including an integrated sound system with playback facilities for CD and cassette and an LCD projector for data and video projection.

An electric blind system concealed within the windows of the building allows both natural daylight into the room and a blackout facility when necessary for projection, while the dimmable lights add to this well resourced presentation space.

Meeting Room

Our Glass Meeting Room and Conference Rooms are perfect for smaller meetings or seminars. They can also be used as breakout rooms in conjunction with a larger event in one of our other spaces.

The Glass Meeting Room is a glass-walled room adjacent to Chapters Café at Laban that seats up to 35 people ‘theatre style’ (other seating styles available).

Conference Rooms 1 & 2 are smaller rooms, seating 16 and 10 people ‘boardroom style’ respectively (other seating styles available).
